  • I took my vehicle to get a oil change on 11-29-17, to the location in Middletown Rhode island on west main road. I wanted to get my oil change because my family and I were driving to NC the very next day. So I went at 1pm or so, got the oil changed and tires rotated with out any problems, so I thought! I paid my money, they gave me my keys and sent me on my way. I drove home and started packing for my big trip. Now I live in Portsmouth Rhode island and from my house to the Monroe location is about 10min or less. Me, my wife and my 8 year old son left for NC the very next day at about 530 in the morning, so everything was fine up until maybe 1230pm that afternoon, we came to a rest stop and parked the car, that's when I started to notice smoke coming from the hood of the car, no check engine light, the car wasn't over heating, I have never had any issues with the vehicle in the 3 and half years that I have had the car so to see smoke was very concerning especially since I just got the oil changed the day before. So at this point I had to make a big decision, we were in New York so we were a lot closer to home then NC. I took a chance and decided to keep driving and prayed to god that he watched over me and my family. So we were able to make it but every time that we did stop I noticed the smoke, so the very next morning Friday the 1st of December 2 days after I got my oil changed I took my car to a place that was close by called NC auto shop, the guy came out to my car and I opened the hood and showed him where the smoke was coming from, so he says well here's the problem, look at all the freshly spilled oil down there, and he pointed to a place in the car and I saw all the oil the was leaking and rolling back to the exhaust which was causing the smoke. There was no oil in my car because the filter was loose and they had to add 3 qts of oil to my car 2 days after I paid Monroe for a oil change. My engine could have locked up..I will never go back to monroe

  • I had a leak in my tire. They inspected it and found that not only did I have a nail in the tire, but also the tread had worn on the inside to the steel belting. They saved me from a blow out. Two new rear tires and 45 minutes later, I was back on the road.

  • I went in for a routine oil change...I ended up needing back brake pads. It was an unexpected expense but the technician was able to do the job right away while I waited. I asked to see what he was taking off my vehicle and what it was being replaced with...he showed me without hesitation and explained to me that if I had left them in place they would have begun to grind and may have damaged my rotors. So while I spent more than expected that day I saved money in the long run. Plus the service was unbeatable, Jeff is always so personable and attentive. I will definitely continue to do business at Middletown Monro.

  • Asked to hav rear brakes checked, pulsating in rear of car. Mech put tires bck on,asked manger said able to look at brakes thru rims (lol). Completed oil chang sent me on my way said next oil chang probably need rear rotor . No whr writing on paperwork. While drive car same day after oilchang seamed ran over something , the something was my engine protector they remov to do oil chang was plastic zip tied bck on car. Never brought to my attention cuse bolts stripped out. Was vry upset . Brought back to shop put on lift, mech ask what i wanted him to do, take it off idiot so it dont fly off and seriously hurt someone, now i want to be reimbursed for new one i ordered . Would appreciate your help in this matter, iv bn a monroe customer for over 8 yrs and have no desire of ever being one again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I made an appointment for an oil change, I asked the manager while they were doing to oil change approximately how much it would be, and referred to the $54.99 price for the full synthetic oil change. The manager's response was we'll see, it depends on how many quarts of oil your car takes. The manager comes in during the oil change and tells me the tires don't need to be rotated, so they didn't rotate the tires even though that's part of the service, and then gave me a bill for $87.94 cents for just the oil change. The oil change is supposed to include 5 quarts or oil, which is all my car took. I understand the fine print indicates there is an additional charge of $2.90 plus a 10% service charge, but mathematically it doesn't add up. 10% of 54.99 is $5.49 plus the $2.90 charge, It should have come to $63.38. When I argued with the manager about the cost being $87.94 he said that I got a full synthetic oil change and that the oil was the reason. But the website clearly notes a full synthetic oil change for $54.99. He then tried to tell me he gave me a $12.00 discount. So basically he would have charged me $99.94 without the so-called discount. This place was a total rip off, I would not recommend it to anyone. The manager wasn't nice or helpful when I arrived, and wouldn't give me a straight answer until he handed me an over priced bill. Don't waste your time or money.
