  • Came in with a headlight and blinker out, and a driver's side door that would not open from the outside. All issues were fixed in less than 15 minutes (with the door being no charge, they explained it was due to the cold). Could not be happier.

  • Winter weather finally made up my mind that I had to get snows for my "new" vehicle. I've always had snows and didn't trust the all weather tires in the Rochester ice and snow. Fortunately, they had the right size in stock, and squeezed me in the same day I called. When it snowed the very next day, and I was traveling to see relatives, I was confident I could navigate safely.

  • After having my appointment rescheduled without my ok, and waiting over two hours, I finally got my snow tires put on. Turns out, they not only messed up connecting the TPMS for the third time in a row but they did not bother to check the air pressure in my tires. So here I am, driving in the snow with underinflated tires and a non-functioning TPMS. And of course, they charge a lot of money to connect that TPMS. I call and they say oh, come in and we'll fix it right away so I make an appointment for before work this morning. Show up to my appointment, and they can't see me for 45 minutes. No apologies, no smiles, just a gruff, too bad someone else got here first. I will never be going here again, it's just not worth the cost, the long wai,t and having to make multiple appointments.

  • I am giving the work performed ZERO stars. My front end was only half done for 2K. Took it back and for $750 more they can fix what else is wrong! Would have been smarter to replace what was wrong in the first place. Now i have been told the car is safe to drive however the squeaking and banging is getting worse with each day. Pretty sad spending that kind of money to have the car driving and sounding like a junker. BAD RIPOFF!!!

  • If you are expecting good customer service from Don, ( I would have settled for decent customer service), don’t bet on it. I left my car overnight after hours on a Saturday evening for repairs. The hours of operation on Sundays are 9-5. I gave the store a call at 11am to see if my car had been assessed. I believed it may have been my starter. Don, who seriously lacks customer service skills, snarled there was only one person working on cars and that there were several cars from the day before that were still waiting. Which was totally understandable. My next question was could he give me an estimate of when the car could be assessed. Again, snarling, Don stated I have know idea, it depends on how long it takes to complete the other cars. I’ve had repairs completed at this location before, (Joel is very customer friendly) and haven’t experienced this type of service. During my prior experiences I was always given a timeframe as to when I could expect a follow up call or when the service would be complete. Hours passed and still no word. I called back at 4:00. Bad attitude Don trumps again. After giving my name and type of vehicle he barked it’s not the starter it’s being assessed now. I spoke out loud saying I know it’s not the battery because it’s new. I then asked had the cable and fuse been checked yet. Grumpy Don’s response was I don’t know I told you it’s being looked at now. I then asked if Joel still worked there and could I have the name of the store manager. Before rudely hanging up on me, his response was yes and contact corporate. Don needs customer service training or should be placed in a more suitable position where it doesn’t involve contact with customers. It is now 5:10 and I haven’t received a courtesy call.

  • I always have a good experience at this location, which I wouldn't say for all locations. The only reason I did not give it a five is simply because I would have liked a call when it was done. I had told them I would be picking it up the day after it was worked on, so it wasn't a big deal at all but it was the only thing holding it from a 5.

I was disappointed that I couldn't get the oil change deal without opening a credit card with Monro. The guys at the shop are helpful and often explain to me anything I have questions about.

  • Came in on 8/30 for a scheduled state inspection a bit early and the gentleman at the front desk was super friendly and informative. My car was taken back a bit early and I only had a 35 minute wait! Very impressed with this location would highly recommend if you were to go a monro muffler in rochester you'll get the best service at this one. I had been to a different monro this winter and it was very sub par customer service so this one made up for one bad experience!

  • Anyone who has owned or owns an older Nissan, (Xterra), knows full well how costly repairs can be. The guys at the University Ave location are great. Stefano C and Joel O are willing to ans questions and do any product/part research if needed. Stefano C has personally taken care of my vehicle for several years, it's an 04 and still running great.

However, I think it's important as a customer to stay positive when receiving news of car problems. It's easy to get angry at the individual bearing the bad news about your vehicle.   • I came in with a wheel bearing noise, and my engine light on again. Sure enough, I had a bad bearing that had to be replaced, and the engine light problem traced back to the gas cap. Unfortunately, the bearing they put in was itself defective, and the gas cap didn't do the trick. I needed to come back again to get a good bearing installed, and to buy an OEM gas cap from a dealer. I did get a refund for an accidental overcharge on the bearing, and for the gas cap.

  • I went to get my state inspection at my local Monroe Muffler in Rochester, NY. When I handed over my keys, the man at the desk said that it would be at least an hour. I ended up getting my keys back in about 50 minutes. The only thing that I would say could use improvement is the level of friendliness towards customers. I felt like I was a nuisance, even though I was there for a pre-scheduled appointment. A happy hello and eye contact can go a long way!

  • On a trip to Virginia my car broke down in Pennsylvania. I was able to stop at a Monro store at 1817 N. Susquehanna Trail (shop 137), Selinsgrove, PA. The people were very helpful, did a great job and got me on the road within a few hours. So the experience was great, but when I got home and took a closer look at the bill and I noticed that a $39 surcharge had been added as a "Shop Supply Fee" for miscellaneous supplies. Talk about turning a good experience into one that makes you think twice about returning to Monro!

  • I came in for a realignment. The manager was very nice and accommodating. He scheduled me in at the last minute with no problems.   • I scehduled a appointment for a oil change and a tire rotation for 10:00 am. I arrived at the location approxmetly 15 min early and the employee came to the counter and asked what I can I help you with. I siad I have a appointment for 10:00 and he said we have you in the computer for 12:00 and its going to be a while to wait. Unbelievable !!!!!!! What a way to run a business... I don't recommend going there and consider other other choices when choosing Monro Muffler
