  • James the manager went beyond the call of duty to fix my power steering hose that developed a tremendous leak. Not only, was the problem quickly diagnosed, but a few options were presented, and then he call around to get the best price for the part. The part was fixed with a little human ingenuity after a replacement part would have taken days to be delivered. James and the staff was great. I highly recommend them, and I plan to use them again for my automotive needs.

  • On Thursday January 11, 2018 close to 6:30 pm my daughter and I pulled into your Monro Service Repair Shop located in Amsterdam. My daughter has been telling me that she has her a loud humming, and driving the car was getting difficult. I drove the car and headed straight to Monro when I experienced the same driving difficulties. Josh and Jesse were staff on hand, and when I explained our concern they immediately put the car on the lift. I was thinking maybe a ball bearing, boy was I wrong. A motor mount had broke and the motor had shifted to the axle. Josh explained that the car was very unsafe to drive. Needless to say the car was left overnight to be repaired. Next problem! How to get home. As it was past closing, Jesse offered to take us home we did not live far. This was a very generous act of kindness and went beyond his duties and I am very grateful. It is a pleasure to know that your company hires people who truly show that the customer safety comes first and also puts forth extra effort to help them in time of need. Way to go Amsterdam Monro Services.

  • Price point for the oil change was good, although at cash out he tried to charge me more. Service was fast, but ended up costing me much more time than needed because of their screwups! Waited an extra 15 min after my car was done and pulled out front, while manager was on phone trying to get a customer credit approved so he could sell more services. I had a free oil change on record from last summer in their system but I was never offered that or no mention of it was brought up. I get in my car and at my next stop realize there is a bunch of grease and oil all over my new dealer installed floor mats...completely ruined..had to waste time going back to the place and complaining...the manager did clean them nicely but no mention or offer of credit was given for this 1 hr inconvenience because of their carelessness.

  • For the third time I have had an oil change and been charged more than the advertised price. My husband never has this problem. I had an appointment at 11 AM, but because they were paving I was told to come back at 3PM. They didn't even have it in the computer. This vehicle has always had the oil changed there and they didn't have it although we get the cards in the mail.

  • I went in for an oil change and a slipped brake pad. 20 minutes later I get the age old call that they ha some bad news. The told me my entire rear passenger brake system was broken and all parts back there needed to be replace along with a tie rod on the front end. (I had changed this same tie rod a week prior). They hit you with the price and then won't stop talking until they feel they have you sold and tell you it's. Or safe to drive your car out of the shop. So I took just the oil change and left anyways. I brought it down to another mechanic and was told just a brake pad missing which is causing the noise and has been replaced. Total repair estimate 883 total actual repair with 4 new tires 450 even.....

  • I had an oil change . The tire rotation is included in this service but was not done because all tires had the same amount of tread. This is what I read when I checked on the accuracy of this decision . "We recommend that tires be rotated every 3,000 to 5,000 miles even if they don't show signs of wear. Tire rotation can often be done with oil change intervals while the vehicle is off the ground. Tire rotation helps even out tire wear by allowing each tire to serve in as many of the vehicle's wheel positions as possible." I was very disappointed this was not done. I was also "not approved immediately" for the drive card so was charged more than what I had planned on-$10.00 more. So, for more money I received less service-a big disappointment as I have been a customer here for many years. I will be rethinking returning to Monroe or suggesting it to others

  • I purchased a tire rotation and balancing - at the time, I couldn't get my alignment - which isn't an issue at all. However, my car rides rougher than it had before. I have beige interier and the mechanic had stained my seats and door with grease that won't come out. Not that I expect anyone in the shop to care - I called to ask why no one thought to protect/ask me to protect the seat, the answer given was "the company doesn't provide anything for seats - only floor mats" ALSO not given! Never again.

Even if something doesn't go as planned (I have older tlc cars) they will make it right! I trust no one else. I have had better experiences with them than any dealership I've taken my cars too.

  • We had an appointment at 10:00 to have my snow tires removed and my all weather tires put on. We dropped the car off a little before 10:00 and they said the car would be ready at 11:30. We came back at 1:00 and the car had not even been brought into the shop yet. They told us that they were sorry, but they had alot of walk ins. We told them that this was the not acceptable and that we had an appointment and they should have honored that. They put 2 men on the job and the car was done by 2:00. We will not be going back here.

Only issue was that I had an 11am appointment and my car was not taken in until 1130.since I was waiting for the work to be done, I didn't think it was right to take all the drive ins ahead of appointments. The person ahead of me waited over an hour for his car to go in and he had an appointment also.

  • I usually use the Johnstown NY location but they didn't have a certified technician to do inspections, I was told that the Amsterdam NY location did and was told to call them. The manager got me in at 11am and was polite, professional and explained why my car failed and what they needed to do and quoted me a price. I was out of there by 1pm and the technician came to me and explained what he did and gave me advice on how to keep my car from experiencing this problem with the brakes in the future. I recommend Monro based on both the Johnstown and Amsterdam locations for anyone looking for thorough reliable and professional service at a responsible cost. Thanks again Monro

  • I did not catch the name of the gentleman that helped me but I was impressed. I came in on a snowy day and they didn't seem terribly busy luckily since I didn't have an appointment. I explained what was going on with my tire, he asked a few follow up questions and then gave a guess at what it might be, brought my car in and after ambit of review gave me worst case and best case scenario - I was glad he presented it that way, with estimated costs so that I was prepared. Luckily it turned out to be the best case scenario and only cost me 30$ when I was anticipating a costly repair. Great customer service experience. Some background, a few years ago when I had first moved to the area this location treated me very poorly but I believe either employees or management has since changed and I really appreciate the location today. I will be returning.

  • I got an oil change, tires were never rotated I watched him put the tires in the ground then pick them up on the same spot. The place was absolutely filthy like It had never been blend. Dirt everywhere. Chairs smelled and then bath room light bulb didn't work. So I couldn't use the restroom. That's an important place for customers.

  • I brought my vehicle in for a simple oil change and $142 later I walked out the door. I know that my truck has its problems however when he told me he wanted to fix something for me and the cost was $30 I never expected to pay $90 in labor. I believe I was taken advantage of because I am a girl unfortunately for them I am a girl who grew up with a grandfather, father and brother who are all mechanics. When he told me $870 for brakes I had enough. It is very unfortunate because I like bringing my vehicle here but unfortunately that will not happen again.

  • I called on a Sunday realizing that my State Inspection was due in a few days. They were polite and scheduled me for later on in the morning. I arrived timely and the technician apologized and said there would be a short delay. I observed as others called or walked in to a busy day. The staff always offered honest estimates of the time available and when they had to turnaway a cutomer, they offered another appointment the following day or day after. The customer focus is appreciated. My inspection was completed and I was on my way. Great experiance. The simple act of greeting the customer, honestly advising of the expected time of completion and thanking the customer made this a GREAT experience. No more sitting, staring, counting cars in the bay, wondering when mine gets in, etc.etc. Thank you!
