  • In Sept 2017 I had a Catalytic convert changed due to a code 420 message in my Acura TSX. The short version of this story is that it took ~10 visits, converters replaced twice and O2 senor replaced and I right this on 3/11/18 am waiting to see if the engine light stays off this time. Adrien Chollet was the person I dealt with mostly and he was very good for the most part. This started with my dealings with a Danielle (who then disappeared) and another gentleman from your Norwich store, who was covering and told me he would not have changed the converters first, would have checked the O2 senors based on my $2400 later (7 months), we think its fixed, since the 1st converters "appear" defective ...and have now been replaced, along with my bill for a $16 gasket (smh)

  • I needed my oil changed and it had been difficult to get to my usual shop, so I decided to try this Monro location. I saw reviews online had been great, so I figured I wouldn't have any issues. I scheduled an appointment on the website. When I got to the location for my appointment it was if the online system didn't register any appointment as the person seemed to not have any information that I had put in. After we got that squared away, the manager asked whether my engine was 1.8L or 2.0L. I was certain it was a 1.8L as that is what was what numerous service centers had indicated previously. They were unable to determine the engine size after looking under the hood and said that it was a 2.0. I should have spoken up at that time, but I didn't. I sat down and waited. I had headphones on, but the mechanic came out of the shop and was talking to the manager. At that time, I paused what I was listening to and heard them discussing 5W-30 oil. I knew that my car has always taken 5W-20, so I figured they must be talking about another car. The oil change finished, and I checked out. It wasn't until I got home that I looked at the receipt and saw 10W-30 oil listed. The next day I called the shop to inquire about this. I mentioned that I always had 5W-20 put into my car and wondered why the change. The manager told me that she was looking at the "book" and it says 5W-30. She said if I didn't believe her I could come by and look for myself. She told me it was the correct oil. I got into my office and I was talking with a few colleagues about it and was reading a few forums. I eventually was able to confirm that my car was in fact 1.8L and on the oil cap itself it says to use 5W-20. I called again and shared my concern with the manager. She said that 5W-30 was not used and that she checked with her mechanic earlier and he said he used 5W-20. She didn't update the bill. She never called me though to tell me this. I didn't find out until I called them.

  • I've taken my vehicles to Monro for years to get service (oil changes, brakes, etc.). I was shocked to see the dramatic increase in the price for oil changes (yes, I understand, they were very low in the past: i.e. 9.99, 14.99, and 19.99, but besides the point). New management (yes, one manager represent's the entire corporation) abruptly came out to say: "Corporate sent me down, I can't have my guys work for free...". Then after I question the sudden change, new management tells me, "stop haggling me and I can get on with your car!.

  • Went in for an oil change and they told me my tires were all worn and dry rotted and that I was in dire need of new rear brakes. Took the car to my mechanic who said the tires were fine and that it was my front brakes that needed to be replaced,, not the rear ones. Not sure how you can mess that up, or mix it up in the ten feet you have to walk from the garage to the front. Used to like going here but since they hired the woman who works at the front now, I am not a fan. Sticking with someone who knows what they're talking about from now on.

  • I always have taken my vehicles to Monro for regular oil changes for the past six years. This is the first time when the Monro staff member tried to overcharge me by asking me to sign the work order without indicating the cost of the service. Something about his demeanor and method gave me a sense that something wasn't quite right. Before I agreed to sign I asked him the cost of the oil change. When he told me $85 my soap icons were confirmed. I felt like he was definitely trying to rip me off as he clearly had my vehicle maintenance history on his screen and I had never paid more than $45 for an oil change. I offered to fetch my past invoices from my car and lo and behold my new price was $37.21. Hmmm. May never go back to Monro because of the unscrupulous action of one individual.

  • The staff was very friendly. At the time of service, there was only one staff member working which made getting a 10-minute oil change into an hour oil change. This wouldn't be a problem had I 1) didn't make an appointment and 2) if there were no other cars before me. The one staff member handled all the phone calls and walk-ins regarding their car concerns and appointments, all the while my car was in the garage for 40 minutes. That's 40 minutes past my scheduled appointment. The single guy that was working was nice and great, however, I wouldn't blame him for his untimeliness, rather it should be the manager who didn't scheduled his employees accordingly.

  • In and out within 45 mins. Under $20 for an Oil change is a good deal. I told them all I wanted was an oil change and no upselling and they actually complied this time! I went to another location not too far away and the guy was literally hanging off my muffler pipe. I was not pleased at all that time.

But the fact is, every time they find something wrong, they take me out to the car and let me see for myself what the problem is....and it's always apparent that my safety has been compromised.   • Made an appointment online on a Sunday asking for an oil change and to rotate the tires in 1 hour from when sent. Received a reply within minutes as acceptable.   • Went in for an oil change and fuel filter change. I also asked the man at the desk to look into why my 2wd and 4wd lights on the dash were flashing. My hood was stuck shut and I explained to the guys that you have to kinda jump on the hood to get the latch to release to open hood, the mechanic was 'banging' on my hood. Sounded like he was using a hammer. I told them to stop and I would call my neighbor to come down and open the hood which he did. The guy behind the counter told me they couldn't do the fuel filter because they couldn't decompress the lines, they didn't have the special tool and what they normally do, turn car on and off a few times was not working. So the didn't break anything they just aren't going to do the fuel filter but the oil change was done and I paid for oil change. So when I got outside with the paperwork and looking it over, it said I declined getting a new serpentine belt. When the mechanic got out of my car I asked why that was written. If my serpentine belt was bad no one told me that it was, he said that it was just starting to 'wear'. I was very upset with the whole visit and just left.
