  • I am a female collage student. I walked in with not much money or knowledge about what was going on with my car. I knew I had a break issue but didn’t know how much it would cost me. The store manager was so friendly and understanding of my situation. He offered me options to finance the work I was having done that worked for my current budget and explained to me what he was going to do to my car and what was wrong. As a female I get very nervous going into car shops because women are usually taken advantage of but here was not the case. Every question I had the manager answered it and explained it to me so I could understand. After fixing my car they test drove it to make sure everything was okay and noticed I had a break light out and fixed it at no cost to me. My experience here was wonderful and I certainly will return again when my car needs more attention. Thank you to the manager and other mechanics who assisted me!

  • I have visited this shop a number of times, occasionally as a drop-in, many times as a scheduled customer. I have literally ALWAYS found the employees to be upbeat, friendly and outgoing. During my most recent trip for maintenance, a snow storm was bearing down on the entire north east. The shop was completely booked for maintenance, and unable to take drop in appointments. I was able to schedule an appoinment for the evening before the storm, with ease. Even FURTHER, due to my unpredictable work as a social worker, I was unsure about my ability to make it for my appointment at the time that we had set. In a mild panic, I called to ask about the possibility of moving my appointment back, to a later time. I was warned that my wait may be longer than anticipated originally, but they were able to accomodate my shifting schedule with ease and without any long sighs, huffing, grumbling or arguing. I thanked them profusely for their flexibility, as I was becoming increasingly concerned that my car would not start in the predicted sub-zero temperatures (I was slightly overdue for an oil change, and am nearing the 150k mark on my engine! My car was very unhappy to start in single-digit temps, and an oil change was just what she needed!). The atmosphere upon arriving at the shop was warm and friendly. I witnessed a number of individuals hoping for a drop-in oil change, and watched with great appreciation as the employee at the desk gently explained that their schedule was full, and offered availability on a different day (including the day of the dreaded snow-storm!). At no point did your employees reveal frustration or irritation that I'm almost certain they were experiencing, instead opting to explain in detail why the schedule was packed and exhibiting flexibility in scheduling for the next available appointment. It is very clear to me that this shop goes above and beyond when it comes to interacting patiently with a very flustered public.

The only criticism that I have is that when I get the sticker for my next recommended service, the mileage varies. Sometimes my next oil change will be suggested after 3,000 miles and sometimes after 7,000. I'm not sure which is correct.

  • Andrew Morgan, the manager at the East Lyme Monro store should get a raise in pay. I took my car for service to two other car mechanics. I paid over $500 for an problem which was not fixed. Andrew showed me the problem, could not understand the misdiagnosis and was very accommodationg for me. They even offered me a ride if I needed. The problem was finally fixed after 2 weeks of frustration and money lost. I will always go there from now on.

  • Took car in for oil change and a check on a rattle. They said the rattle was a bad muffler and clamps. Had them replace, cost over $500. The problem is still there. Then they said it,s the catalytic converter. For $600 more they will fix it. The manager looked at it twice. Obviously wrong. Never going back. I was totally ripped off. Now I have to go elsewhere to find the problem.

  • I am a disabled desert storm navy veteran and have been patronizing shop#194 since I moved to Connecticut in 1990, getting all repairs done on all of my various vehicles, even today on my 2010 Ford Edge SEL AWD Invoice # 144137 $761.40; for a total of 26 yrs. Today's job, although expensive, saved my life, as their inspection of my brake system showed an additional problem with my master cylinder and the inability of brake fluid from operating the rear brakes, putting all of the braking strain on just the front brakes; so today I received both Total Front & Total Rear Brakes and Brake System Flush. I also was given an estimate for the Master Cylinder Repair which I have already scheduled on line for Friday August 18th at noon. Estimate #213696 $678.51 Shop#194 epitomizes professionalism, poise, tenacity, and efficiency which ultimately speaks highly of the reputation of the Monro Muffler/Brake and Service Corporation; moreover, I have never seen such a well oiled shop of devoted mechanics, staff and management, which is why I am still having my automobile repairs done here for the past 26 years. I would like to especially thank Mr Bob Schmidt - store manage of shop #194 for making my life safer, and being honest and open with me, with regard to his inspection of my 2010 Ford Edge SEL AWD mileage 72973 , and the repairs that needed to be done, and personally taking my automobile for a test drive before and after the repairs were completed.

  • I had issues with my brakes making a loud grinding noise. The mechanics were able to identify the root cause and were able to resolve the problem the same day. Overall I was pretty satisfy with the communication and explanation of the problem and how to resolve it. There were no problems with the new brakes and additional parts. One minor issue was I heard a squeaky noise every time my tires would rotate while driving. I brought my car back in and they fixed that issue right away.

  • I got a call from my aunt that is elderly 70 years old she has in 1999 Mazda protégé her muffler split in the middle ...the old welding job got Rusty and slightly broke off being a car person I knew it would take a tap weld to fix her problem ...minor break ! icalled Monro told them I would be there , and all I needed was a tap weld I get there with my aunt , the guy at the desk told me hed "check it out " . he comes back probably 45 minutes later . I don't understand why it took that long it wasnt busy. he comes back and gives me a diagnostic and tells me it's going to be a $700 job and her whole muffler system needs to be witch it highly upset my aunt because i exaplained to her its not a big job! and her car would be fine and not to worry ...up until that point ! i kindly asked if he could just weld it where it's broke , he quickly refused he insisted that she needs a whole muffler system needs to be replaced ... it highly upset me because I asked if he could just weld it where it's broke ...he insisted that she needs a whole muffler system. I asked him specifically just to tap world where it came apart he refused to be of any help I asked where could I go to get a tap weld because noone would spend 700$ on a 99 mazda wit well over 220k . he would not mention any other options , he just implied that it's going to be $700 for them to do anything....the look on my aunts face was so upsetting ...I told him I want the keys we literally drove five minutes up the road to a mechanic at a detailing garage , he did the job on the spot for 50$ ! took him 15 minutes ! my aunts day was made ! we will never bring our cars to monroe muffeler again this was my auts first time . she was tramatized , it was my second time ' my fist time i brought my land rover to monroe and they told me 1000$ for a weld job ! they couldnt do without a gasket they couldnt get !! witch is insane ..i left & got the job done for 100$ gasket was 2$ monroe is a rip off !

  • I made an appointment online and it was verified quick. I showed up and there was little waiting time. I all requested an oil change and a tire rotation. I also anticipate signing up for the Drive card so I could get a special Internet and promotional rate of $19.99 for semi synthetic oil or the Valvoline max life. I did wait in the office in the wait time was acceptable in my opinion. The attendant who seem to be the manager was named Bob Schmidt. He was very nice and took my order accordingly. However I did mark my tires with some special markings to indicate if A tire rotation occurred. I noticed that the tires did not move at all for my vehicle, making me believe that there was no tire rotation taking place. However the tread depth of each tire was identical so maybe that is why they did not change. I am not sure if that still requires rotating or not. I would come back to this location but if I really wanted my tire rotation to occur I might have press them to do that.

  • I made appointment for oil change and asked them to check brakes as I was hearing a noise. Mechanic found rear brake pads and rotors needed replaced. I was pleased with their manner - no high pressure to get work done. Just presented the facts and quoted a price. They were able to do the work while I waited and I have had no problems in the week since work done. I would recommend Monro of New London, Ct because of good work in addition to helpful and informative manner of employees.
