  • I went in for oil change an the technician at the front desk told me that I needed to change the engine air filter as well as the cabin air filter. He said that he would just charge for the parts and not labor and said it would cost me $68 plus taxes for both in addition to the oil change price. I showed him a coupon for $19.99 for air filter which he accepted and reworked the cost. After arriving home and going through the bill I was surprised to learn that not only did he not honor the coupon and charge me $25 plus taxes for the air filter, but also way way overcharged me fr the cabin air filter. Most of the filters cost about $10 only. So if he did not charge for labor, my total cost should have been around $20 + $10 ..about $30 plus taxes for the filter. Over years I had serviced my cars at Monroe Muffler and Brake. It was all about trust. For a company which claims to be honest ..you have lost my trust. Never again! But in all fairness, the gentleman at the desk was very courteous.

  • Extremely disappointed! My husband and I have been here a few times thinking our vehicles were being properly serviced. As it turns out they have not been. Went there with a coupon that listed along with an oil change for $9.99, free tire rotation, free fluid check, free brake inspection, free tire pressure check and maintenance check. Our tires were not rotated, because we marked them. I'm not even sure the proper service was done on our vehicles. I will no longer have our vehicles serviced with this company.

  • I'm a very dissatisfied customer! I'm not even sure they changed my oil. I've always used a coupon that indicated along with an oil change, free tire rotation, fluid checks, brake system check and tire pressure check. In the past noticed that my tires were not rotated, which is extremely important for a vehicle! Why would you advertise something and not follow through with it? I'm no longer going to this company for any service!

After having a bad experience at another service shop (they told me my car was totaled and not worth repair) I came to Monro Muffler/Brake for an alignment and oil change. Pretty much finding out everything that the other place told me was a lie. I can't thank you guys enough for giving me hope on my banged up car!   • I went in for an oil change. I was told that my tires need to be changed and my breaks needed to be fixed. The guy was helpful, but definitely gave me a price that I wish I had turned down. Instead, my trip lasted 2 more hours and almost 600 dollars. I should have said no thank you, which is my fault, but I felt very persuaded and I'm unhappy with myself for doing something that I don't think was needed urgently. I watched over the course of the next three hours while 5 or 6 other people were told something was wrong with their vehicle as well. That's how they getcha I guess. I'll be smarter next time.

  • $788 for a set of drums for a set of pads and a spring set. Was told parts weren’t in stock. Next day parts installed without calling me, and no estamit on parts and labor, called and they said car all done come get it at 4pm. Saw bill and could not believe my eyes 1037.98!!!!!! Manager said he did me a favor and took 160 off the bill. Charges me 395.98 for a set of drums, that’s f—ken crazy!! You can buy a set, both right and left side together any parts store for 161.00. This store charged me 197.99 for a single drum not a set!!!! DAM THIEVES!!!!!!!!!

  • I went for a 4 wheel alignment for my 2004 mazda rx8. I do regional and national events with the car. Due to my tires my alignment constantly needs to be redone due to cam botls moving out of place. So went to local shop to get in my opinion a simple alignment. After 30-45 mins car comes off the lift. Im thinking that was fast the manager says car is done and the computer doesnt show camber adjustments only toe. So only toe was done even though the car has normal factory camber adjustments. The manager then says i have a camber tool that mounts to the hub but would have to reschedule and would be charge double. If i was told from the beginning when I made my appointment or when they got the car on the lift. I clearly would have went to a more equiped shop to get it done. Instead i was chage for a service that was half done. Needless to say i wont be returning to monroe muffler for future work. I would have been happier if i was told up front instead of after the work was done.

  • The check engine light is still lit up on my dash board after changing the O2 sensors in 2016, EGR valve in June 2017, and the vacuum modulator in June 2017. It also meant taking excessive trips to Monro Muffler for the issue to still not be resolved. Very unsettling. Please help resolve this ongoing issue as it is going on way too long already for the $500 paid for the job.

  • In Sept 2016, Monro Muffler changed my exhaust system from the catalytic converter back as well as the O2 sensors on my 2000 RAV4. The "check engine" light was off on the dash board for literally 1 day where upon putting my car on the hand held computer it was found the EGR valve needed to be replaced. The EGR valve was cleaned at this time only for the dashboard light to come back on. The "check engine" light has been on ever since even after spending $500 on June 10, 2017 to purchase a new EGR valve. The following Saturday, June 17, 2017 a return to Monro Muffler to have the EGR valve assessed once again was unsuccessful because the Manager advised when he put the computer on my car the "check engine" light would shut off. He told me to come back when the light turns back on so he could test it for the results. This was after bringing in a computer print out stating the "check engine" light was related to the EGR valve. The dashboard lit up once again on Sunday, June 18, 2017 when finally the computer was put on the car once again and code was found to be EGR related. On Monday, June 19, 2017, the Manager Matt called me leaving a message telling me he ordered parts for my car. Should Monro Muffler do the work on my car again, it will be the fifth time visiting them for the same issue. To me, this back and forth is very disappointing. In my opinion, the job should be completed and the dashboard light should be off by now. Moreover, it makes me lose confidence in the ability of Monro Muffler to do competent work. It makes me want to request a refund for the way the situation was handled. The quality of work done so far regarding the EGR valve is second best and does not warrant a price of $500.00 in my eyes. At best, the fee for the services should be half price because as you know, your time is valuable as is mine.

  • I went in for my oil change appointment. Since getting a new car, I was unsure what oil I should use. The man and the front desk was very helpful in looking it up and helping me decide the best choice. Also, he explained how there was a small problem with a piece of the car, and that I needed a new air filter. After giving him the go ahead to change them and fix the problems within minutes it was done! The man also gave me prices for 2 things that came up as needing to be changed after inspecting my car! I really enjoyed coming here, and he helped me, as a woman who doesn't know car parts, understand what was wrong with me car.

  • Ok, im glad you have a survey because my experiences with ansonia/Derby Monroe muffler has not been good. I believe I've had 3-4 oil changes which include tire rotation and check fluids etc. 1St time there, I left with low air in tires. 2nd time they didn't tighten my oil bolt and my oil was dripping out which could have blown my new motor (thank god my brother in law saw the oil pouring out. Last week when I left my car was making wierd noise so I pulled back in and this time my air filter wasn't put back in. my experience with this place hasn't been good I'm sorry to say. Very disappointing!!

  • I used the Derby, CT store to have tires mounted which I purchased through Tire Rack. I made an appointment the day before, arrived at my scheduled time and was on my way within an hour. Everyone that I came in contact with acted in a professional manner, answered all my questions, and honored the agreed upon price with Tire Rack. I was totally impressed towards the end of the service when I just happened to glance over to my car and saw a technician checking the torque on all the lug nuts with an actual torque wrench, without me even having to ask! Very rare in this day and age. Excellent job guys!
